Our Lady of the Snows is situated
in a natural beautiful mountain valley sitting at the base of the eastern
slopes of the Cascade Mountains in west central Chelan
County. Our parish community lies within the Upper
Wenatchee River
Valley and the Cascade
School District. The community area is very rural with Leavenworth
being the only incorporated small town.
The other un-incorporated villages/towns and areas include: Dryden, Blu-Shastin, Peshastin, the
Lower Icicle Valley which includes the East Leavenworth Road area, Plain,
Lake Wenatchee, Coles Corner and Stevens Pass/Yodelin Place. Much of the county in our community
consist of mountainous forest resource lands of Federal, State and some
limited private ownership which encompasses over 80 percent of the
area. The lower hillsides and
valleys are areas of development for governmental and community services,
residential, limited light industry, tourist facilities and agricultural
uses.
